About The Author

Meet Emily Songer

Emily Songer is a children’s book author who writes stories that introduce young readers to the world of skilled trades. As a child, Emily dreamed of becoming a writer, but her early career began in customer service roles before she decided to pursue new opportunities.

She later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management with a minor in marketing. After graduation, Emily applied to several union trades and ultimately joined the plumbers’ union, where she began working as a pipefitter and plumber. The career provided both meaningful work and a better quality of life.

Returning to her early passion for writing, Emily began creating children’s books that help young readers explore careers they may not often see represented. Her book Sisters in Construction highlights the important roles women play in construction and encourages children to discover new possibilities for their future.
