Emily Songer is a children’s book author whose work focuses on introducing young readers to the world of skilled trades. As a child, Emily dreamed of becoming a writer, but her early career began in customer service roles. Wanting a different path, she later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management with a minor in marketing.
After graduating and seeking better opportunities, Emily applied to several union trades and eventually joined the plumbers’ union. She began working as a pipefitter and plumber, discovering a rewarding career that offered both meaningful work and a better quality of life.
Returning to her childhood passion for writing, Emily started creating children’s books that introduce young readers to careers they may not often see represented. Through her book Sisters in Construction, she hopes to encourage curiosity, confidence, and interest in hands-on careers for the next generation.
